Supreme Court delivers verdict in the Ayodhya suit
Hindu priests perform routine evening worship rituals on the day when the Supreme Court announced a verdict over a disputed religous site, in Ayodhya, India, 09 November 2019. A five judge constituion bench of India's supreme court, headed by the chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogai, delevered a much-awaited verdict on the Ayodhya title suit. The suit is based on a dispute concerning the control of a site regarded as the birthplace of the Hindu god Ram, which also hosted the Babri Masjid, which was destroyed by Hindu nationalists in 1992. According to media reports, the Supreme Court ruled that the site should be given to Hindus, who will be able to construct a temple on the site with funds distributed through a government trust.
